Upward News is hiring a part-time Breaking News Social Media Editor Intern to help bring real-time, high-impact news to hundreds of thousands of Americans.

You’ll be responsible for quickly formatting and posting breaking stories using our existing templates across Instagram and other platforms.

This role is perfect for someone who lives and breathes the news cycle, understands the political landscape, and wants to make a difference in how news is delivered and understood.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor breaking news throughout the day
• Use existing templates to quickly post stories on social media
• Reformat articles and newsletter content into shareable posts
• Ensure speed and accuracy while maintaining our editorial tone
• Spot key developments and pitch stories when necessary

Qualifications:

• Strong grasp of American politics and current events
• Solid news judgment and attention to detail
• Able to work independently and respond quickly to breaking developments
• Proficiency with Instagram and X; Canva or Figma experience a plus
• Passionate about delivering clear, no-BS news
• Available part-time throughout the day
